What it is

An offline library in your pocket

Bugout Browser creates its own local Wi-Fi network. After connecting, a user opens a normal web browser and accesses the library directly from the device. No cellular signal, cloud account, subscription, or external internet connection is required.

It is intended for preparedness kits, off-grid locations, overlanding, field work, emergency planning, travel, workshops, classrooms, and any situation where useful reference material should remain available when normal connectivity is weak or unavailable.

Important: Bugout Browser provides reference material. It does not create internet access, cellular service, GPS positioning, or emergency communications.

Useful operating notes

What to expect

  • The device is intentionally offline, so internet-dependent links and live services will not work.
  • Some collections do not have complete full-text indexes. When search returns few results, browse by category or the A-Z index.
  • Performance is designed for a small group rather than a large public hotspot. Four simultaneous users is the intended limit.
  • A dedicated power bank is useful for mobile or emergency kits. Actual runtime depends on the power bank capacity and condition.
  • Bookmark http://bugout.lan after the first connection for faster access later.
  • Download or print any mission-critical instructions you expect to need. No single reference device should be the only source of safety information.
